9/25/09 Delta Wetlands Walk
Fourth Graders enjoyed a fun and informative Wetlands Talk and Walk with Ranger Mike. We investigated a huge CA map as we reviewed our Delta geopgraphy. Next we role-played a Plant-Capturing-Dirt game. Clovis left the "river" boundary and became our Flood. Rain and Dominique locked arms to show the wingspan of a white pelican. Kids discovered tracks, scat, berrries, and salt grass. Wild asparagus, anyone? We saw terns dive-bomb-fishing in the Delta. Bradley was the first to spot an otter slide. Sophia was our yucky-tasting -beetle expert. Our "listen to the birds session" ended with Matthew R.'s very loud sneeze! Nick kept a careful eye on Kevin. All-in-all, a fun, hot day.
What are the girls doing with their arms stretched out like that?
